Any yoga or swimwear clothing that feels comfortable when wet (but you probably will NOT fall in) is appropriate for SUP Yoga. Please wear sandals or flip-flops that you don't mind getting wet (just to get on the board from the shallow water). Sandles and flip-flops can be stowed under straps on your board. All personal belongings such as bags and towels should be left in your vehicle. Car keys can be securely stored on the instructor board.
Probably not! We practice low and slow poses on a paddle board that challenges our balance and provides a great workout for our core! You can always back off on a pose and stay low or enjoy more of a challenge (and maybe the fall) in a standing pose. Either way, we'll be there cheering you on!
Class cancellations due to excessive winds on the bay or other inclement weather occur. You will be notified by text at least one hour prior to class time in the event of a cancellation.
We do ask that you are comfortable in the water and know how to swim. All boards are equipped with a PDF (personal flotation device) stowed on the front of the board. We practice in a beautiful part of the bay that is about 3 feet deep (no motorboats).
No. Low and slow poses on the paddle board will allow you to work your stabilizer muscles and build your balance. At the end of the practice we either kneel or stand and paddle around the bay. Adding yoga poses and balance techniques makes you very comfortable on a paddleboard!
Public parking and the paddle board launch ramp is located directly behind Don's Original at 4900 Culver Road in Irondequoit. Take a right immediately after Don's Original and then a right into the public parking lot.
